About Asheville Bible Church

Elders

We are blessed to be led by three elders – one of whom is our pastor of preaching, Pat Leahy. As undershepherds of Christ, these men share a passion for the Gospel, God’s Word and the well–being of Christ’s church.

Values

Preeminently, we are lovers of Jesus Christ and His Gospel. It is this good news which has recovered our once broken lives and transformed us into lovers of God. Because of His grace and kindness toward us in Christ, our lives revolve around the message of the Gospel. We glory in the cross and seek to live in its shadow. Because the Gospel is the “power of God unto salvation”, and has freed us from our slavery to sin, we live at peace with Him and possess a “joy unspeakable and full of glory”. Consequently our highest pursuit in life is to help others find this same delight in God.

Confession of Faith

We believe that every church ought to freely confess its doctrinal understanding of God’s Word. We are a non-denominational Bible Church whose beliefs are in the mainstream of historic, Protestant theology.  We believe the inerrant and infallible Holy Scriptures contained in the 66 books comprising the Old and New Testaments to be the supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice.  A copy of our Confession of Faith is available upon request.

Word-Centered Ministry

Our greatest joy is to serve you in your pursuit of the Truth which Jesus said “sets us free.” We believe that Christ has given many gifts to His church to equip her. However the principle means of equipping believers for the work of the ministry is regular exposure to expository preaching of God’s Word by men whom Christ has gifted and given to His church for that purpose (Ephesians 4:11-13). Therefore we are an intentionally Word-centered ministry that focuses on expositional preaching rich with illustration and relevant application for life in the 21st century.
